Print

Print provides students with extensive training in writing, editing, and re-writing material for publication. Students will explore different types of news reporting such as; write news stories, editorials, features along with sports and entertainment. Students will also design and layout the newspaper using Adobe In Design while using digital photography as both a journalistic and artistic medium. Students will participate in the planning, designing, outlining and production of the CMS Newspaper. There will be an online Newspaper produced that will go onto the CMS website each term. Students must be willing to work outside class time to complete this assignment and must be trusted with the equipment while being responsible around school campus when there is no teacher present.

Video

This is a hands-on technical course that requires individual and group work. Responsibility and focus are essential traits for the successful Video Production student. Students will work in crews and learn to write, shoot, and edit their own productions. Skills in pre-production planning, camera handling and operation, shooting techniques, appearing on-camera and voice-overs, troubleshooting, digital editing and post-production are covered. Students are required to meet the deadline of the Success Assemblies to produce a quality video that is shown to the school each term. Students will be responsible to set up and run the video at each assembly. Students must be willing to work outside class time to complete this assignment and must be trusted with the equipment while being responsible around school campus when there is no teacher present.
